Kontent Kings: Cid & lowlandJack

As brands begin to analyse consumer behaviour online some early-adopters are creating not only 'relevant' but useful and innovative content around their products, services or desired digital brand identities.

Second Life is populated with pretend Toyotas, IBM skyscrapers and Scandinavian embassies where you cal learn about Swedish history and perhaps be tempted to remember you have a first life, and actually go there. But then the "Virtual world of 'Second Life' is starting to look alot like Sweden" anyway.

I've discovered some budding new (or maybe existing) Ikea designers mulling about in the Google 3D Warehouse and thought I'd share with you some of their work:

Cid has built an Ikea warehouse:

which is presumably modelled on an actual store in Lisbon shown on his page using Google Maps (top picture)

lowlandJack has fashioned an 'Ikea-letten-squeegee':

and just under 30 other Ikea products. Why?! Well it's pretty cool to have your models appear in an online 3D Warehouse, on Google Maps or Google Earth, and in this age of digital literacy is evidence of a valuable skill.

Looking at lowlandJack's other models there's a selection of British rail insignia, miscellaneous furniture and dice. Ikea would do well to actively encourage budding young Google Sketchup-ers (that sounds very silly) to train themselves on their designs - free advertising and branding, and a chance to tap into creative talent globally for both promotion and recruitment.
